Julie Gauthier is a veterinarian with a passion for conserving vanishing old breeds of poultry. At Chickcharney Farm, Julie demonstrates that these rare heritage breed ducks, chickens, turkeys, and geese fit right in with modern small-scale sustainable farming. Outdoor mushroom cultivation, sprouts, and microgreens complement poultry production at the farm; each gourmet food item is part of the cycle and recycle of production – everything Julie grows on the farm feeds something or somebody else well. Livestock on the farm are fed a homemade diet that includes locally grown grains and protein sources and does not include GMOs, soy, synthetic hormones or antibiotics.
